The top student activities to do at Birmingham

1)Visit Cadburys World

Home to everyone’s favourite chocolate factory, Birmingham is the home of Cadbury’s world, a visitor attraction providing tours and history of how Cadbury came to be. The tour also comes with tasters and samples of their various products. The cup of melted Cadbury’s chocolate at the end is a particular highlight.

2) Check out the exhibitions at the National Exhibition Centre

The National Exhibition Centre or NEC as it’s more commonly known, is the UK’s largest event space and hosts every imaginable exhibition, just be sure to keep an eye on their listings as although there’ll likely be events you want to attend, not every event will be up your street.

3) Do the Tolkien Trail and visit the origins of the Lord of the Rings

The Lord of the Rings author, Tolkien was born in Birmingham and based many of the locations from his books on places he had visited when growing up. Visit sites that inspired some of the Lord of the Rings locations such as Sarehole Mill, Moseley Bog & Perrot’s folly to name a few. 

 

4) Visit the Bear Grylls adventure centre

The Bear Grylls adventure centre makes for a quality group day out, try your hand at everything from assault courses, climbing, zip lining and even indoor skydiving. Use your Unidays for student discount.

5) Visit the Botanical Gardens

One of Birmingham’s best attractions, the botanical gardens cover 15 acres and contain a wide variety of rare and exotic plant species. The gardens contain numerous glass houses with vibrant tropical species and even have their own butterfly house. Check out their listings as they host various events throughout the year.
